Initiatives to Support Small and Local Businesses

The Dwight Economic Alliance encourages residents of Dwight and neighboring communities to support their local businesses by obtaining goods and services locally whenever possible. Our initiatives include:

    DEA Gift Certificate Program

DEA Gift Certificates are sold to individuals and to businesses. They may be used at any DEA Member business, encouraging the recipient to shop locally. In the past, these gift certificates have been a huge hit as Christmas presents for children, civil servants, co-workers, and employees.

    A Taste of Dwight

Each summer, the DEA hosts A Taste of Dwight as a way to expose residents to the goods and services that local businesses have to offer. Restaurants expose guests to their best and newest menu items. Other businesses can either sell goods at a vendor booth or set up an exhibitor’s booth to explain what they do and to start conversations with potential clients.

    Small Business Saturday

Each fall, the Dwight Economic Alliance takes the lead in coordinating and marketing Small Business Saturday.  This includes locating external funding sources for promotional materials, soliciting participation from local businesses, and educating the public about the benefits of supporting small businesses.

    Networking, Seminars, and Roundtables

Continuing education plays a vital role in the success of any business. The Alliance surveys its members each year to determine if there are any training needs that are common among multiple member businesses and, when possible, may arrange for a workshop, seminar, or roundtable discussion to be held locally to address the need.

    Website Placement

The Dwight Economic Alliance website is a central point of information about the village both for residents and for visitors. Members receive exposure on the DEA website.

Ambassadors are listed in the Business Directory.
