Initiatives to Support Small and Local Businesses

The Dwight Economic Alliance encourages residents of Dwight and neighboring communities to support their local businesses by obtaining goods and services locally whenever possible. Our initiatives include:

    DEA Gift Certificate Program

DEA Gift Certificates are sold to individuals and to businesses. They may be used at any DEA Member business, encouraging the recipient to shop locally. In the past, these gift certificates have been a huge hit as Christmas presents for children, civil servants, co-workers, and employees.

    Small Business Saturday

Each fall, the Dwight Economic Alliance takes the lead in coordinating and marketing Small Business Saturday.  This includes locating external funding sources for promotional materials, soliciting participation from local businesses, and educating the public about the benefits of supporting small businesses.

    Networking, Seminars, and Roundtables

Continuing education plays a vital role in the success of any business. The Alliance surveys its members each year to determine if there are any training needs that are common among multiple member businesses and, when possible, may arrange for a workshop, seminar, or roundtable discussion to be held locally to address the need.

    Website Placement

The Dwight Economic Alliance website is a central point of information about the village both for residents and for visitors. Members receive exposure on the DEA website.

Ambassadors are listed in the Business Directory.

Members at the Bronze level and above appear on appropriate context-specific pages, such as:

Platinum members appear on the Home page.

    • Red Carpet Corridor / Springfest
    • Cruise Night
    • Fourth of July Fireworks
    • Christmas Lights Parade

Your membership level and the nature of the event determine exactly how your business will be recognized as a sponsor. Examples include:

    • Verbal recognition over loud speakers
    • Logo and Web Address on Banners
    • Name on Plaque
    • Name or logo on event t-shirt
    • Name or logo on programs

    Logo Placement on DEA Materials

As a Gold or Platinum member, you are a primary contributor to the Alliance’s ability to perform its work. As such, we attempt to recognize you on any materials that describe the Alliance or its work.

We place your logo on printed and e-mailed materials. This includes paper and electronic newsletters, membership materials, etc. Print advertising (such as newspaper ads) are generally excluded.
